Common Questions
What conditions do you treat?
The Psychiatrists at Fitzroy Terrace Clinic provide compassionate care for various conditions, including depression, anxiety, OCD, ASD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, peri and post partum mood disorders, eating disorders, substance use disorders, complex grief, and PTSD. Please see information about each individual doctor for their specific areas of interest.
Do I need a referral from my GP and how do I send it?
Yes, a valid GP or specialist medical referral is required for psychiatric consultations to ensure coordinated care and to allow you to claim a Medicare rebate. Your psychiatrist will need to review the referral prior to potentially offering an appointment to ensure they have current capacity and can offer ongoing care if needed. On occasion referrals may need to be declined due to current capacity constraints. If you are interested in having your referral seen by another practitioner at the clinic, please mention this when sending the referral in. Referrals can be received from your referring doctor or directly from patients. Each psychiatrist has their own administration team - please refer to their individual website page for contact details.
What do the appointments cost
Fitzroy Terrace Clinic is a private billing clinic. There are differing fees and rebates for different type of appointments, based on Medicare item numbers. Each Psychiatrist sets their own fees. Please refer to the individual websites and/or be in contact with their reception team regarding fee information. Please refer to https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/medicare for Medicare claiming information.
Is Telehealth an available option?
Many of our psychiatrists can offer Telehealth, depending on the suitability for your needs. Please contact your individual psychiatrist for further details.
What do I bring to my appointment?
Please bring your Medicare card, referral, list of current medications and any other information that will be relevant to your treating psychiatrist.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Due to demand for appointment spaces each psychiatrist has a cancellation policy. Please refer to their patient information for specific information.
Is my information kept confidential?
Your personal and medical information is confidential and will only be shared with your explicit consent or as required by law. Please refer to each psychiatrists privacy policy for further information
